Growing the MomsRising Community
DBT worked closely with the MomsRising team for several years. In that time, MomsRising grew from 140,000 to over 1 million members and built a reputation as one of the most innovative and effective advocacy organizations in the US.
With DBT support, MomsRising developed a powerful social presence with over 900 bloggers. Other highlights include: Take Action microsites, Send a Valentine to Congress, Mothers’ Day Wall of Fame, and “Mother of the Year” videos.
MomsRising members sent 650,000 messages to Congress to support the Affordable Care Act.
Do Big Things worked extensively with MomsRising as they were growing their influence and audience. We helped them to identify and reach out to influencers to have a wide range of voices – affinity, issue, ethnicity, hyperlocal and more. Ultimately with our strategic guidance, MR was able to grow their list of bloggers to over 1000, making them a player among the all-powerful mom blogger community.
We collaborated with them to create a storytelling campaign that involved their blogger and influencer community plus everyday parents. This yielded thousands of responses in support of the passage of the Affordable Care Act. In all, MR sent over 650,000 different and individual messages to Capitol Hill to ensure better healthcare for American families. The strong voices of MomsRising members were heard in the Obama White House and White House officials even conducted tweetchats with MomsRising.
